Teza Screening

tezaposter1In honour of the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture’s (CCVT) will be screening of the award winning film TEZA. Set in Ethiopia and Germany during Mengistu Haile Mariam’s 1974-91 rule, Teza tells the story of a young medical research scientist from Ethiopia who returns home after training in Germany to find a brutal authoritarian regime in place of the land of liberty and development which he has dreamed of. The multiple award-winning film covers the timeless issues of dictatorship, emigration, torture, war and the position of women in society. Following the screening, there will be an intimate discussion with the director, Haile Gerima, who has dedicated 14 years to the creation of Teza.
Thursday June 25th at the Royal Theatre 608 College Street, Toronto.
Doors Open at 6:15 pm, screening at 7:00 pm
